SPECIAL SHOWBIZ STORY
Manila, June 15, 1998 - In the year 1955, there was a fistfight at the comfort room of the Ateneo de Manila University between Joseph Ejercito Estrada and his American classmate Patrick Hilton. Estrada accused Hilton of bullying his friends and challenged him to the fistfight.
This incident caused both Estrada and Hilton to be expelled from Ateneo. Hilton left the country and Estrada transferred to Mapua Institute of Technology and proceeded to take a course in engineering. Estrada eventually conquered the worlds of showbiz and politics which led to his election as mayor of San Juan in 1969.
For the past month or so, the Department of Foreign Affairs have been frantically searching for the American Patrick Hilton as they want to invite him to President-elect Joseph Estrada's inauguration on June 30. The search has to this time to no avail.
President Joseph Estrada still insists that he will take his oath of office at the historic Barasoain Church in Malolos, Bulacan. "Come what may and at all costs, I'll take my oath of office there," he told reporters. He said Barasoain means much to him as it was the venue of the drafting of the first Philippine Constitution 100 years ago.
Estrada will proceed to Barasoain church in the morning of June 30 to take his oath at high noon, then he will proceed to Malacanang after to meet with his new cabinet.
In the afternoon he will proceed to Luneta to deliver his inaugural speech entirely in Tagalog. He will also do away with traditional inaugural ball and instead will host cocktails for foreign dignitaries at Malacanang in the evening.
