CHAD BORJA ALBUM BY SERGIO MENDES DIRECTOR
Manila, June 6, 1998 - Chad Borja, talented and good looking in a clean-cut kind of way, produced one hit -- "Ikaw Lamang" -- which became his signature song. His career failed to take off after that, except for the period when Kuh Ledesma featured him as special guest in her US concert tour.
Performing in Los Angeles, he impressed Japanese-American record producer Yutaka Yokokura, who immediately offered to produce an album for him. Yutaka had previously produced records for Pauline Wilson, Kevyn Lettau and other Latin artists. He also served as musical director for five years to Sergio Mendes.
Yutaka came to the Philippines to oversee the recording of Chad with local musicians. The Manila Times reports that five cuts have been recorded, and five more await to be performed in a recording studio.
All the mixing will be done by Yutaka in Los Angeles. The record is said to have a pop-jazz, cross-over feel.
The album, geared for the local market, will be ready for release in time for the Christmas gift- buying season.
