SHANGRI-LA MACTAN VOTED ASIA'S FAVE
Mactan Island, Cebu, May 15, 1998 - Readers of The Wall Street Journal have voted Shangri-La Mactan Island Resort as one of Asia's top three favorite resorts.
Only four years old, the Shangri-La Mactan has gained a strong foothold in several markets. It is primarily a holiday destination but it has also emerged as a preferred venue for corporate and incentive programs for multi-national companies.
"We are pleased with this international recognition as it strengthens the resort's objective in positioning itself as one of Asia's leading deluxe resort hotels -- both for business and leisure," said Shangri-La General Manager Coe Massenlink.
Massenlink lauded the opening of the new Mactan International Airport, which has resulted in high frequency of domestic and international flights carrying tourists to the resort.
After recent completion of the new Ocean Wing, the resort has a total of 546 rooms and suites, eight restaurants and bars and a comprehensive array of meeting rooms and banquet facilities.
Sports and recreation facilities offered are two swimming pools, a six-hole pitch course, three tennis courts, Children's Club and an exclusive 350-meter private beach.
