27 NEW HOTELS, RESORTS TO RISE IN 3 YEARS

Manila, May 8, 1998 - At least 15 more hotels and 12 resorts are opening in various parts of the country from the end of 1998 to the year 2000, according to the Department of Tourism.

The DOT has endorsed some P12.26 billion worth of approved projects to the Board of Investments within the first quarter of 1998.

The projects, consisting mostly of hotels, inns, resorts and pension houses, will add 4,400 more rooms for tourists.

Megaworld Properties is constructing two de luxe hotels in Manila, while a third will open in Mactan, Cebu in the year 2000.

In Cagayan Province, an economy and a standard class hotel are under construction, while another resort known as the Planet View Beach is being built in Zambales.
