FVR ORDERS CLEAN-UP, BEAUTIFICATION FOR CENTENNIAL

Malacanang, May 4, 1998 - Leaving no stone unturned for the biggest event in the country's history, President Ramos yesterday ordered the sprucing up, repainting and refurbishing og all national and local government buildings and facilities for the Centennial of Philippine Independence.

In a memorandum, President Ramos directed all government-owned and controlled corporations and local government units to ensure that buildings and facilities leading to places where important events for the Centennial celebration will take place are well prepared before June 12.

Priority will be given to structures leading to the Centennial corridors, freedom trail sites, Intramuros Area, historical sites and other areas frequented by the general public such as government buildings along public parks, town plazas, provincial capitols, municipal and city halls and other major edifices.
