P1-M INTERNATIONAL CENTENNIAL KEGFEST BEGINS
Pasig City, May 31, 1998 - The country's biggest, richest and most prestigious bowling tournament -- the PSC-Boysen Centennial International Open Championships -- unwraps this weekend at the Green Valley lanes in Pasig City.
Re-elected Senator Vicente Sotto was the guest of honor at the opening rites for he kegfest which has lured top bowlers from Malaysia, Korea, Singapore, Chinese-Taipei, Hong Kong, Australia and the host country.
Up for grabs are gift certificates and special prizes worth over P1 million, from tourney sponsors PSC, Boysen Paints, Pagcor, Ericsson and Edsa Shangri-La, the official residence for the tourney.
The Tournament is part of the Asian Bowling Tour which is aired by the international sports giant ESPN for broadcast worldwide via satellite.
ABT's second leg will be held in Manila on June 14-15. The first leg of the ABT in Malaysia was won by four-time champion, Filipino Paeng Nepomuceno.
Nepomuceno heads the local team which includes Bong Coo, Arianne Cerdena, Cecilia Yap, Jojo Canare, Paulo Valdez, Brunswick star Liza Clutario and RJ Bautista.
Competition will be conducted in singles, doubles, trios, all-events associate masters and graded masters. The Masters will be the centerpiece event.
