FVR OPENS MINDANAO'S PREMIERE
GOLF COURSE
Cagayan de Oro City, May 7, 1998
- The Pueblo de Oro Country Club and Golf Course was inaugurated Tuesday
by President Fidel Ramos with a ceremonial tee-off. It is the first 18-hole,
par 72, all-weather championship golf course with world-class facilities
in Mindanao.
Designed by international renowned golf course designer, Robert Trent Jones II, the Pueblo de Oro Golf Course has several distinctive features.
Being an all-weather golf course, it is playable the whole year round. It is also environmentally sound, featuring five inter-connected ponds from which recycled water is drawn to water the course -- an effective means to conserve water.
"The course will surely strengthen Mindanao's drive towards modernization and progress by providing a world-class sports destination to complement other developments in the region as it gears up for the coming millennium," said Pueblo de Oro CEO Guillermo Luchangco.
The golf course forms the centerpiece of the Pueblo de Oro township.
