ROBIN TO ROMMEL -- GIVE UP, JAIL'S GOOD FOR YOU
Manila, May 30, 1998 - Actor Robin Padilla is appealing to his brother Rommel to surrender to authorities and face the music while there still is time appeal his sentence.
Robin who himself has just spent three years at the Muntinglupa National Penitentiary for illegal possession of firearms, made his appeal on television.
"Brod, please listen to me. The best thing for you to do right now is to come out and give yourself up. Face the music," Robin said.
"It might be good for you," he added, referring to his own reformation while incarcerated.
"Please think of Mama," the moviedom's Bad Boy told Rommel, reminding him that their mother, former actress Eva Carino, was rushed to the hospital after the court announced that arrest orders cold be issued against her fugitive son.
"Even if in the end you have to spend time in jail, you can handle it. Don't worry about Mama, we'll take care of her," Robin said.
Rommel was sentenced to 8 years in prison for illegal possession of firearms. He has 7 days left to file an appeal.
