ROSANNA SLOWS DOWN, QUITS "STARTALK"

Manila, May 27, 1998 - The sexy, bubbly host of GMA 7's entertaining talk show "Startalk" will soon be doing what she would really rather do: spend lazy Sundays at home with her husband and two kids. Yes, Miss Rosanna Roces is quitting her weekly TV hosting job "to devote as much time as possible with the family ."

Rosanna, who surprised everyone by successfully taking over the show almost a year ago, has resigned irrevocably, beginning the first week of June.

The Philippine Star's Ricky Lo reports that Rosanna has been complaining about not being able to spend Sundays with her kids. She has also been vocal about wanting to have a baby with husband Tito Molina.

Rosanna's presence has provided sparkle and controversy to the otherwise cut-and-dried "typical" showbiz format of "Startalk." Her spontaneous and natural interaction with guest celebrities had provoked a couple of reminders and reprimands from the censors.

GMA 7 will have a hard time finding a replacement for her. Critics and fans agree that Rosanna's act is a tough one to follow.
