AIKO-JOMARI UPDATE
Manila, May 22, 1998 - Here is an update on the true-to-life romance of Jomari Yllana and Aiko Melendez, from Jomari's answers at the Press conference of his movie "Sa Pusod ng Dagat" and as reported by Don Don Sermino of Abante Tonite.
The Yllana family would like to sit down with the family of Aiko Melendez before the end of May, to clarify certain matters regarding the two stars, who have started to live together under one roof.
"I guess her family is still in shock, but perhaps all that is needed is for us to talk things over," Jomari said. "And of course, I'd like to talk about marrying Aiko."
Jomari is certain that their wedding will be soon. And if it does happen, it will not be a grand one. It is possible that the two will go through a civil marriage first. He is 90% sure that it will happen in the next few months.
"I promised myself that I will not have a broken family. I cannot afford a grand wedding, because I am no Richard Gomez," he said.
But he has prepared for the future needs of their baby. He has a home, an educational plan and cash savings for his first few years.
Aiko is expected to give birth in September. The gender of the baby is still unknown to the couple; they do not want to know in advance. Aiko and Jomari, in the meantime, are getting to know each other better, now that they are living together like man and wife.
"Aiko is very responsible, and looks after all my needs. When I got sick, she would wake up even at 3:00 a.m. to give me my medication. She would give me a sponge bath when I'm too sick to shower. She's so loving that sometimes I just want to stay in bed sick to have her look after me," Jomari describes Aiko.
