MRS. RICHARD GOMEZ TO REPLACE ROSA ROSAL AT RED CROSS
Manila, May 16, 1998 - Ms. Rosa Rosal announced that her decades-long search for a replacement as Philippine National Red Cross Governor may be over. She has found the ideal woman to take her place as symbol and actual working lead volunteer -- Lucy Torres, now Mrs. Richard Gomez.
Ms. Rosal has been on the lookout for young blood who can inherit and carry on her work in the private humanitarian organization which she has served for 48 years. Her search yielded fruit when Richard Gomez himself suggested his wife, Lucy Torres.
"I am a fan of Richard," confessed Ms. Rosal. "I believe in the guy. I like young people who are achievers, and I consider Richard an achiever. He has an admirable track record as an actor and an athlete."
The veteran award-winning actress became an instant fan of Mrs. Richard Gomez when Lucy attended a meeting with some Reed Cross officials. "She was exactly how I pictured her to be -- beautiful, sincere, very charming, very regal. There's nothing superficial about her."
Of her meeting with Lucy, Ms. Rosal gushes: "It's like an answered prayer. Lucy is interested in the job. I could see her enthusiasm and sincerity. Although she's not an actress, she's an attraction herself. She's as beautiful as an actress, has credibility and a wonderful background. She would be an asset to the Red Cross. I'll train her especially for the blood program."
"What's so wonderful is that Richard himself gave the blessing for Lucy's involvement!"
