MARTIN LEAVES TO SORT OUT PROBLEMS

Manila, May 12, 1998 - There were tears in his eyes as Martin Nievera sang a new song on the ABS-CBN program A.S.A.P. last Sunday. He announced that he was leaving the show and going abroad to solve some personal problems.

Martin, who had for months been denying rumors about his marital problems, finally told a live TV audience the truth. "All the while, I pretended there was no problem when actually there is."

The rumor mill had been busy with reports of Martin and Pops separating because of a third party, who supposedly is based overseas. New York keeps getting mentioned as Martin's destination whenever the irrepressible and talented TV host-singer "disappears" from the local scene.

Ricky Lo of the Philippine Star printed the following unanswered questions on the Martin-Pops saga:

1. Why does Martin have to go abroad to sort things out if the problem has something to do with his marriage to Pops?

2. Does Martin need to discuss certain things with somebody in New York before he and Pops can sit down and start to iron things out between them?

3. Just who is that "someone" from whom Martin seems to have a lot of difficulty extricating himself?
