WIN OR LOSE, EDU TO STAY IN SHOWBIZ
Makati City, May 8, 1998 - Edu Manzano will not leave show business, whether he wins or loses in his candidacy for vice mayor of Makati.
"I'll still do movies, but no longer leading roles. I prefer supporting roles which will not take me away from my work in Makati for long periods," said the actor, whose candidacy is being threatened by questions on his citizenship.
June Rufino, his manager, said he's still under contract to do two movies for Star Cinema. One is a drama with Maricel Soriano and another is a comedy with Agot Isidro. He has just finished an action movie entitled "Star Witness" for Regal.
His closest rival for the position of vice mayor is Bong Daza, estranged husband of Miss Universe Gloria Diaz.
Edu says his son Luis Philip, who stays with his mother Vilma Santos, who herself is running for Mayor of Lipa City. Vilma, of course, is Edu's first wife and is now wife of Congressman Ralph Recto of Batangas.
Should both parents get elected, Luis Philip, known as "Lucky" to Vilma's fans, will have a Mom who is Mayor and a Dad who is Vice Mayor.
