JOMARI YLLANA IS PHILIPPINE TOURING CAR CHAMPION

Subic Freeport, May 7, 1998 - Jomari Yllana of Toyota Team Toms topped all entries in the first round of the 1998 Philippine Touring Car Championship at the Subic International Raceway last Sunday.

Jomari overtook veteran racer Carlos Anton of Shell-Hyundai-MP Turbo three laps before the end of the 12-lap race, and held on tightly to his lead, for a total time of 27:14.642, edging out Anton and Mato Tan of Fronte Motors.

The well-known actor-sportsman, driving his Toyota Corolla, finished with the fastest lap time of 1:39.304 in the 2.8-km course.

The race was organized by the Philippine Motor Association and promoted by the Batangas Racing Circuit Association.
