WAGE INCREASES FOR SOUTHERN TAGALOG WORKERS
Lucena City, May 3, 1998 - The May 1st celebration of Labor Day proves a memorable one for workers in the Southern Tagalog Region.
The Labor Department announced that the Wage Board of Region IV has granted minimum wage increases ranging from P6-P13 daily for workers in the non-agricultural plantation and cottage/micro industries.
Labor Secretary Cresenciano Trajano said the increase is effective today, and will be supplemented next year by another round of increases ranging from P6 to P12 daily.
Small retail or service businesses, like sari-sari stores and eateries, not employing more than 10 workers, receive daily wage increases from P3 - P8.
