NEW $100-MILLION AIRPORT IN NEGROS

Silay City, April 22, 1998 - A new $100-million international airport will replace the Bacolod airport which figured in a runway accident last month.

President Ramos presided in ground-breaking ceremonies for the Silay International Airport, which he said "will be a wider, safer airport equipped with precision approach landing system."

The new airport will occupy a 600-hectare property, large enough to provide the necessary length of runway for international flights and large aircraft now in use by domestic airlines.
