MANILA IS BOUTIQUE HOTEL CHAIN'S HUB
Makati City, April 16, 1998 - Aston International, a Hawaii-based hotel chain, has picked Metro-Manila as its regional base for Asia, and expects to open its first Philippine property in July.
Aston Grand Suites, located in Salcedo Village, Makati, is a boutique hotel with 150 high-end suites of varying sizes -- from studios to multi-bedroom units.
Charles Brookfield, Aston International president and CEO, said the suites will have all the comforts of five-star hotels, including a business center, gym, restaurant, souvenir shop and function rooms. Front desk and butler services will be available 24 hours a day.
Aston strives to provide its residents and guests with a "boutique hotel experience" that's warm and homey while at the same time maintaining high-tech efficiency.
Bullish on the economic prospects of Metro Manila, Aston International already has a site for its next hotel in the Ortigas area, and plans to open five more hotels in the next four years.
Brookfield believes the current crisis is "just a blip on the radar" and that the region's economy will rebound soon.
Aside from the Philippines, the hotel chain is negotiating other projects in key cities in Indonesia, Guam, Australia and Saipan.
