DOT UNVEILED CENTENNIAL PACKAGE
Manila, April 10, 1998 - The Department of Tourism (DOT) recently unveiled the "Pang Sentenyal na Handog sa Bayan" (Centennial Gift to the Nation) dream vacation package in the form of the "Mabuhay Philippines '98" and other domestic tourism programs featuring Philippine brand of hospitality, history and culture.
The Mabuhay Philippines '98 is expected to draw balikbayans and international tourists to the Centennial celebrations in June 1998. The activities of the program lined up are: Centennial Shopping Festival and Sale of the Century touted to be the biggest shopping event of the year and is aimed to make the Philippines the next shopping capital of Asia; Centennial Food Fiesta; and the Centennial Freedom Trail Tour Special which traces the routes taken buy the country's heroes in the struggle for Philippine freedom, focusing on the sites, shrines, birthplaces of heroes identified by the Natinal Centennial Commission.
In the "Dream Vacation" package DOT have put affordable vacation packages where they sought the support of airlines, shipping companies and resorts. The sale discounts will be packaged by the tour operators, then pass them to the consumers.
