LENTEN PROGRAM AT PHILIPPINE CHRISTMAS VILLAGE
San Fernando, Pampanga, April 5, 1998 - The Philippine Christmas Village is offering a variety of activities for residents and travelers for the Lenten season.
"Lenten Program '98 is conceived as a revival of traditions, a rekindling of faith and a return to religion and culture," says PCV executive director Didi Lucindo. "Tourists and residents can come to the village and experience the spirit of the Lenten season instead of going to resorts and malls."
"This is unique because the activities will not be in a formal church setting, but amid the village's Gardens of the World" featuring 22 country gardens and 8 special gardens. The Philippine Christmas Village is a 9-hectare theme park off the San Fernando exit gate of the North Expressway.
The Lenten Program will kick off Palm Sunday, with the opening of the Angels of God exhibit of the Angels Society of the Philippines. At the same time, the Pampanga Stamp Collectors Society and the Philippine Postal Corporation will open a "Religion on Stamps" exhibit featuring the Christianization of the Philippines, the 1932 National Eucharistic Congress, famous churches and other important religious events of the past 65 years.
The exhibits go on until Easter Sunday.
