CANADIAN TOPS CEBU TRIATHLON

Lapu-Lapu City, April 30, 1998 -Canadian Damon Nemsh ruled the Men's Open of the Final Leg of the 1998 Gatorade Everyman Nationall Triathlon Series last Sunday, 19 Apil, at the Plantation Bay Resort Hotel with a fast time of 1:00:15 hours, the second fastest time in the entire 1998 Series.
Nemish towed a field of 110 entries and won over Raul Cuevas (2nd) of San Juan, Metro Manila (1:03:58) and national record holder Abet Alon-Alon (3rd) of San Pedro, Laguna (1:04:15).
On the distaff side, newcomer Ripples Rafanan of Danao City ruled the Ladies Open with a time of 1:20:38 hours over Rowena Barrientos (2nd) of San Pedro, Laguna (1:22:04) and Winnie Marie Chan (3rd) of Cebu City (1:24:41). Leian Amin Cruz of Angeles City, Pampanga dominated tthee Boys Juniors category (1:07:17) over Cebu's Jessie Suerte (1:02:244).
The event, presented by Gatorade Thirst Quencher and sponsored by WG&A SuerFerry, Philippine Airlines, Alaxan Pain Reliever and Globe HandyPhone, had an international participation with triathletes from Japan, Canada, United States, New Zealand, Australia, Korea and the United Kingdom.
Local entries came from all over the country--Metro Manila, Pampanga, La Union, Danao City, Cebu City, Davao City, Bukidnon, Aklan, Laguna, Cagayan de Oro and Lupon, Davao Oriental Province.
