RP YACHT RULES SUBIC INTERNATIONAL REGATTA
Subic Bay, April 22, 1998 - The Philippine yacht Karakoa-Manila Harbour Centre ruled five of six races to capture the second President's Cup Regatta which closed the week-long contest last weekend.
Karakoa-Manila Harbour Centre bested 177 other world class yachts from Hong Kong, Brunei and the Philippines for top honors in the six-race event.
Hong Kong's Hocux Pocux placed second, while another Philippine yacht, Subic Centennial II, finished third.
A total of 200 sailing craft competed in nine different categories in the event organized by the Manila Yacht Club and hosted by the Subic Yacht Club.
Subic Yacht Club Commodore Vic Vic Villavicencio was all praise for the performance of Filipino sea craft. "The solid showing by our boats in the President's Cup Regatta proves that we have firmed up our claim as the new sailing power in Asia," Villavicencio said.
