DAYANARA-CESAR MONTANO MOVIE FOR STAR CINEMA
Manila, April 13, 1998 - Dayanara Torres, the Puerto Rican Miss Universe who captured the hearts of Filipinos and broke the heart of Aga Muhlach, is returning to the Philippines in June. While in the Philippines for a short visit, she will hold a concert and do a movie for Star Cinema, possibly starring with Cesar Montano.
Her manager, Heather Rasch, was in Manila recently for business discussions with the Lopez group and talked to newsmen about Dayanara's zooming career and future career moves.
Last February, Yari's single "Jerigonza" was No.22 on Billboard's Hot Latin Tracks chart. On the Latin pop chart, Jerigonza was in No. 5, while on the tropical/salsa chart it was No. 10 and still climbing. The song Jerigonza is part of her first album titled "Antifaz" which turned platinum in Puerto Rico only a month after its release.
Sony Records has acquired international distribution rights to Dayanara's album, and expect to release it in the Philippines in April or May.
"Everyone around the Spanish-speaking world -- from Miami to Venezuela, Puerto Rico to Brazil -- is intrigued about why this talented beauty moved to the Philippines. Dayanara speaks so highly of the Philippines and Filipinos during her interviews. In a way, Filipinos have a free ambassador of goodwill for the Philippines in Dayanara," said Heather.
And what does Dayanara miss most about the Philippines that Heather is taking back to Puerto Rico as "pasalubong" for the singing sensation?
Sorry Aga, but what Dayanara really craves for is Filipino sinigang. Which is why Heather is taking back bags and bags of instant sinigang mix to cook in Puerto Rico for her now famous client.
