HOLLYWOOD ANIMATORS SET UP IN CLARK
Clark Field, April 11, 1998 - Two US-based animators have expressed interest in locating their operations inside the Clark Special Economic Zone.
Romeo David, president of the Clark Development Corporation has met with officials of the GM mini Computer Exchange and Cerulean Digital Colors Animators from Hollywood, California on their plans to introduce state-of-the-art computer animation facilities which can be altered in digital form.
David said the groups supply digital animation and effects to various Hollywood outfits for use in such blockbusters as "Jurassic Park" and the record-breaking "Titanic" which utilize digitally- produced and enhanced images.
The firm would occupy at least 1,000 to 1,500 square meters of land inside the 4,400-hectare economic zone which would hire more than 500 workers.
"The firms will need hundreds of digital artists to fill the jobs that would open up once their facilities start operating," David said.
"These animating companies will elevate the status of Filipino workers in the field of high technology digital animation," David said. "The employment opportunities they will provide can help a lot in boosting economic conditions now enjoyed by the Central Luzon area."
According to David the two firms were impressed by the economic turn-around of the former US military base, as well as with the availability of modern facilities and competent manpower.
