AI-AI WANTS MARRIAGE ANNULED

Manila, April 4, 1998 - Miguel Vera was already married to someone else when he married comedienne Ai-Ai de las Alas, she nevertheless went to the Quezon City regional trial court to formally petition for the annulment of that bigamous union.

"I want everything in order," Ai-Ai said. " I want everything clear and clean."

The actress cited Miguel's previous marriage to Christine Manalo, with whom he has two children. She also told the court of the injuries she suffered as a battered wife.

Ai-Ai also asked the court to grant her full and permanent custody of her children and P20,000 monthly support for them.

Miguel has been uncooperative about the petition for annulment, and has even questioned Ai-Ai's relationships with persons of the same sex.

The annulment issue is the latest in the real-life drama of the two on-again, off-again lovers.
