MERALCO COLLECTORS PHASED OUT

Manila, April 4, 1998 - The days of Meralco collectors are over. Electric bills may now be settled via over-the-counter payments in participating banks, through credit cards, ATM cards, phone banking and automatic debit arrangement through the customer's participating banks.

Meralco added that starting this month, customers must pay on or before the due date; other wise payments may only be made at Meralco branch and extension offices.

The improvements in the Meralco payment system are being implemented in the entire Meralco franchise area this month, along with a new meter reading schedule.
