FVR LEADS FLUVIAL PARADE TO PROMOTE PASIG FERRY
Malacanang, March 28, 1998 - A colorful fluvial parade will begin at Malacanang Park and wind through the tributaries of the Pasig River, through the lakeshore towns of Taytay and Angono, and Talim Island in Binangonan. The half-day activities are aimed at promoting the practicality of the Pasig River ferry transport system.
Led by President Ramos himself, the fluvial parade will stop briefly at Talim Island where President Ramos will hold a dialogue with local officials.
The parade will have its final stop in Los Banos, Laguna, where the President will also meet with local executives and private groups on the advantages of a river ferry plying commuters to their places of work in the metropolis.
"The President wants the fluvial parade to have a festive atmosphere with as many participants as possible since he wants to promote the river and ferry services to the public, who will eventually benefit from this kind of operation," said Gina Jota of the Presidential Management Staff.
A ferry ride from Pasig to Escolta, Manila, takes only 30 minutes and costs P30 per passenger. The other routes are: Guadalupe to Los Banos and Guadalupe to Binangonan.
