RP CENTENNIAL LANDMARK
IN NIAGARA FALLS
Niagara Falls, Canada, March 26, 1998 - The Philippine Consulate office in Toronto, Ontario, Canada is coordinating with the Niagara-On-The-Lake, Niagara Falls Mayor Art Viola, a Filipino, as well as with the Filipino association of Niagara and the Knights of Rizal of Toronto for the erection of a historical marker of Dr Jose Rizal in Niagara Falls, Ontario.
The project is part of the 100th Anniversary celebration of the Philippine Independence and has the blessings of the Philippine Centennial Commission. It is in the annals of history that Philippine national hero Jose Rizal once passed by the wonder-of-the-world, Niagara Falls.
A Jose P Rizal bust has already been placed at the Philippine Centennial park, the Earl Bates Park in Metro Toronto, where the Filipino-Canadians hold their annual Independence Day celebration picnic. The bust was placed by the Orders of the Knights of Rizal, local chapter.
