BOUTIQUE HOTEL OPENS IN BAIS CITY
Bais City, March 22, 1998 - Bais City is now famous around the world as the "Whale Watching Capital of the Philippines" because the proliferation of whales and dolphins has attracted eco- tourism possibilities.
The city itself is a historian's delight. Its streets are spic-and-span and the homes preserved to retain their Old World ambience. It has become a model for environmentalism, with the local government at the helm of a successful nature-consciousness drive among residents. Thus, Bais City has maintained much of its lush vegetation, including coastal mangrove forests which can be viewed while traversing wooden bridges built for tourists and observers.
Group tours of nature lovers continue to descend upon the quiet city, prompting a businessman and his wife to open a hotel that matches the visitors' love for nature.
Inaugurated very recently was the La Planta Hotel, owned by Visayan executive Philippe Lhuiller and his wife Edna, is an elegant Hispanic-inspired structure with 24 charming suites which provide the comforts of Negros-style hacienda living and amenities.
The hotel is located near the city proper and provides car service to and from the Dumaguete airport. Each room of the La Planta Hotel is outfitted with cable TV, direct-dial telephone service, and individually-controlled air conditioning.
