WORLD FOLKLORE FEST TOURS RP
Manila, March 14, 1998 - Leading folkloric dance troupes from the Philippines and Japan will join folk ensembles from Ireland, Spain, Israel and Yugoslavia for the 1998 World Folklore Festival and Conference which will tour the Philippine countryside from March 27 to April 3.
The dance festival intends to foster friendship and create a better understanding of the fold arts and traditions of other countries. In line with this, a series of performances, special concerts, tours, exhibits, animations, master classes and lecture demonstrations will be presented.
The dance festival will be highlighted by performances of the Philippines' leading festival winners: the Bola-Bola of Dinagyang Festival (Iloilo), Tribu Manbabaol of Sinulog Festival (Cebu), and the Buyamanong Placer of Bonok-Bonok Festival (Surigao).
After performances at the Cultural Center of the Philippines, the groups will visit other towns and cities in Metro Manila, Batangas, Laguna, Cavite, Bataan and Quezon Province.
