HEAVY TACKLE FISHING TOURNAMENT IN PANGASINAN
Lingayen Gulf, March 11, 1998 - Open-sea fishing as a major tourist attraction is slowly being developed in Northern Luzon, through the combined efforts of the Department of Tourism and the Philippine Game Fishing Foundation.
Annual and seasonal fishing tournaments are already bringing in hordes of local and foreign fishing enthusiasts to Port Irene and Sta. Ana, Cagayan Province.
This weekend, the first of six heavy tackle fishing tournaments in the Angler of the Year circuit of the PGFF will be held at the Celeste Resort in Bolinao, Pangasinan. Individual and team trophies are at stake in this premiere game fishing meet.
Hosting the tournament is 1997 Angler of the Year Alberto Azana's two companies: Azana Precision Industries and A.H. Lingayo Surveying.
Tournament director Mar Paras announced that 30 anglers will compete as pairs. Fish weighing less than 2 kilos will be released back into the sea, and not qualified for the final weigh-in.
There will be no limit on the number of rods and reels per team.
