CENTENNIAL ART INSTALLED AT CCP GROUNDS
Manila, March 8, 1998 - Monumental works inspired by Katipunan flags, the Philippine flag and our last hundred years of freedom now grace the grounds of the Cultural Center of the Philippines.
The exhibit will be on until May and is open to the public.
Mounted right in front of the CCP main building along Roxas Boulevard is Junyee's "Isang Daan" which is a 100-bamboo construction decked with Katipunan flags and lanterns that evoke an army of Katipuneros on the even of a massive battle.
Sandra Torrijos' "Templo ng Araw" re-interprets the Philippine Flag, with sand, mirror and marble standing for the sun.
Jerry Ingco's "Rainbow Banners" is an installation of 100 bamboo poles with banners, light protectors, musical chimes and bells, and rises at the Folk Arts Theater.
The three artists each received a P150,000 grants to cover labor, materials and transport costs to implement their works which were selected last January from among 26 entries.
