Subic Bay, March 7, 1998 - Built at a staggering cost of P2 billion, the marina and country club development at the Subic Freeport zone has captured for the Philippines the most impressive status of having the "best yacht club in the world".
The SBYC, an exclusive marina country club and the biggest of its kind in the Asian region, is composed of a 17,300-square-meter Main Clubhouse, Boathouse, Recreation Center, and a 300-berth marina constructed on almost 29 hectares of land and sea.
Recently the yacht club inaugurated its P230 million Recreation Center, a complex that houses the latest top-of-the-line sporting and leisure facilities.The club has two US open-rated, all-weather, all-day tennis courts with Deco Turf 2 surfaces.
The world-class open-air courts which offer a beautiful view of the club's swimming pool, will also serve as Joseph's tennis clinic for members and guests who wish to improve their game this summer.
The Recreation Center has luxurious European-style spas equipped with massage and treatment rooms, beauty salon and gym facilities with the latest exercise equipment.
At the ground floor the bowling alley has the glow-in-the-dark of neon, laser lights and disco music. The 2,500 square-meter multi-level swimming pool includes a lap and a game pool, pool bar, children's pool complete with water toys and a waterslide. The pool also has imported white-sand from Australia.
