DEPT OF TOURISM LEADS RP TRADE SHOW IN CANADA
Toronto, Ontario, March 1, 1998 - The Philippine Dept of Tourism has been appointed lead agency that will coordinate activities in cooperation with the Dept of Foreign Affairs, Dept of Trade and Industry and the National Centennial Commission in the annual Canadian National Exhibition '98 (CNE) in Toronto.
The CNE is a summertime national fair, the biggest in Canada, held at the Toronto Canadian National Exhibition grounds. It will open on August 21, 1998 this year and will last for two weeks. This year the PHILIPPINES is the featured country.
Tourism Undersecretary Macabangkit Lanto, New York Director Emma Ruth Yulo, Toronto Phil Independence Celebration Movement President Norma Carpio, headed by President Fidel Ramos represented the Philippines in the signing of the memorandum of Intent in the presence of Canada's Prime Minister Jean Chretien and CNE President Kenneth Lantz.
The memorandum of Intent supports the participation of the Philippines as the featured country at the CNE 98, sealing a partnership between government and private enterprise.
