PBA PROVINCIAL FANS ANGERED BY GAMES' NON-BROADCAST
Quezon City, March 30, 1998 - The head office of the Intercontinental Broadcasting Corp. (IBC- 13) has received reports from all its provincial relay stations that irate basketball fans have threatened to bomb their facilities for their failure to telecast the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) games and other Vintage TV programs despite a court order.
IBC-13 president, retired General Gemiliano Templo had ordered that the PBA games be taken off the air by provincial stations last March 10, but Regional Trial Court Judge Prudencio Castillo ordered the resumption of provincial broadcasts last Thursday.
Judge Castillo's ruling prohibited IBC-13 and its agents "from preventing or continuing to prevent IBC's provincial and relay stations from airing the programs of VTV on IBC-13."
Although the Supreme Court had rendered as legal and binding the contract signed by the old IBC administration with VTV, Templo maintains that it was grossly disadvantageous to IBC-13.
Angry fans have called on President Ramos to order Templo to follow the court order.
