INTERNATIONAL CENTENNIAL FOOTBALL CUP IN ILOILO
Iloilo City, March 7, 1998 - Six top international teams will compete against the best in local football as the President's Centennial Football Cup kicks off at the Iloilo Sports Complex this weekend.
Heading the visiting teams is defending champion Royal Air Force of Thailand, which is boosted by six national players.
Also coming at Woodlands and Wembawang Football Clubs of Singapore, the Hong Kong Rangers, Tatung Football Club of Chinese-Taipei and Malay Mail of Malaysia.
The Philippine national team and an All-Visayas selection composed of the region's soccer standouts will spearhead the local challenge. The competition is organized by the Philippine Football Federation as its tribute tot he centennial celebration of Philippine independence.
The even is considered a tune-up for the Philippine team's participation in the Tiger Cup qualifying tournament set for March 22-29 in Singapore.
