CANADIAN Bb. PILIPINAS STRIPPED OF TITLE
Manila, March 30, 1998- Tisha Silang, a charming French-speaking Balikbayan, was born in the Philippines was raised in Toronto, Canada by Filipino parents.
Her best friend died very recently from leukemia at age 25, but not before inspiring Tisha to join the Bb. Pilipinas beauty pageant.
Only two weeks ago, she joined the Bb. Pilipinas contest, won, and was proclaimed Bb. Pilipinas-Universe, to represent the country in the forthcoming Miss Universe Pageant scheduled May 12 in Honolulu. Tisha dedicated her crown to her friend.
But after the coronation, she voluntarily relinquished her crown and in a written statement said she was unable to meet certain citizenship requirements. Tisha, like her parents (her father Francisco is a doctor), became a Canadian citizen years after migrating to North America.
Like Anjanette Abayari before her, Tisha was stripped of her Bb. Pilipinas-Universe crown and the first runner-up took her place as Bb. Pilipinas.
Tisha plans to continue her nursing course in Humber College.
