RP SHOWBIZ, RUNNING SHORT
OF LEADING MEN?
Manila, March 25, 1998 - Richard
Gomez has cut down making movies. Bong Revilla has turned more to politics
as the newly appointed provincial governor of Cavite. Gabby Concepcion
is still out of circulation. Aga Mulach has recent history of taking his
long hiatus. Robin Padilla out (soon from jail) but not in (moviedome)
as yet. Christopher de Leon, will he still be around for a while? Edu said
whether he wins or loses in his political quest, he will remain in movies.
Will he really?
Well, it seems that Philippine showbiz may soon be running short of leading men.
Then, it is time to look at the "potencialables"? There are dramatic potencials in Bobby Andrews, Deither Ocampo and Marvin Agustin. However, the problem with these three "maturing" leading stars is lack of "love team" linkages, as yet. They are still the "teen idols' of the times.
Will Rico Yan mature from teen superstar to be the next Aga Mulach? Will Michael Flores or Diego Castro be another Richard Gomez? Another Christopher de Leon?
