Quezon City, March 15, 1998 - Asia's Queen of Songs has made up her mind to enter the political arena, while the reigning Queen of Daytime Talk Shows is still being wooed to be Number Two at City Hall.
Songstress Pilita Corrales has announced that she will seek the congressional seat in Quezon City's fourth district. She told Michael Lim Ubac of the Inquirer that she was egged on by her desire to enter other fields where she could be of service to others.
Multi-awardee drama actress and TV host Dina Bonnevie, meanwhile, is reportedly being eyed as running mate of former Quezon City Mayor Brigido Simon.
Inspired perhaps by incumbent Mayor Ismael Mathay's choice of actress Connie Angeles as candidate for vice mayor, oppositionist candidate Simon picked Dina in order to ride on her popularity with the masses.
Dina herself has not yet made any public announcement on whether or not she will run for office. The third known aspirant for mayor is another movie actor, incumbent Vice Mayor Herbert Bautista.
