Pasig City, March 14, 1998 - Tanduay Rhum's 1998 calendars bearing computer-altered nude photographs of Anjanette Abayari are now collector's items.
Judge Leoncio Janolo of the Pasig Regional Trial Court yesterday issued a temporary restraining order banning the distribution of the calendars after Anjanette filed a P36-million damage suit against the Tanduay Rhum manufacturer and Tanduay's advertising and promotions agency.
The lawsuit covers compensatory damages for P5 million, moral damages for P25 million, exemplary damages for P5 million and lawyers' fees for P1 million.
In her complaint, the actress said she never posed naked for the calendars and that the images were computer-generated, pasting her face on the naked body of another woman.
For a reported P1 million, Abayari posed for six different layouts for the calendar. "Of the six layouts, only four were used," said Boy Abunda, talent manager for Abayari. "Of the four final layouts, two of the bodies were not hers."
