Manila, March 13, 1998 - Singer Martin Nievera has been missing from the local scene for a while, and his career is suffering.
His unexplained disappearance was first evident last weekend, when he was absent for the gala opening rites of the Metropolitan Basketball Association in Lingayen. Martin was supposed to be the emcee and host star of the program, which had no less than President Ramos officiating as guest of honor.
Martin was also gone from ABS-CBN's Sunday noontime program A.S.A.P. which he hosts regularly with his wife Pops.
One newspaper reported that the MBA tried to locate him by having someone look for him in all his usual haunts in Honolulu, where Martin grew up and launched his career. Another newspaper said Martin is in New York with someone rumored to be the cause of his marital problems.
Martin's absence from his own show A.S.A.P. was too glaring to be ignored. Now the rumor mills are starting to have a field day with the Martin-Pops separation issue.
But Pops Fernandez is not talking. She has so far refused to give any interviews on the subject.
