Manila, March 8, 1998 - Ms. Daisy Romualdez will soon walk down the aisle and become Mrs. Manny Paner.
Yes, after 27 years of living together, ex-Sampaguita Pictures actress Daisy will marry former basketball superstar Manny Paner.
The Philippine Star's Ricky Lo broke the news in his column. Ricky announced that Daisy herself phoned him from the office of Quezon City Mayor Mel Mathay, who will be one of the wedding sponsors. Daisy was applying for a marriage license.
"We almost got married in 1971, but I backed out," recalled Daisy. "We were already in the office of Pasay City Mayor Pablo Cuneta, but I changed my mind. I thought we were not ready yet at that time."
Manny's decision to run for mayor of his town of Naga, Cebu, helped him and Daisy decide to get married. After the elections -- win or lose -- they plan to marry in church. Another wedding sponsor is Speaker Jose de Venecia, presidential candidate of LAKAS, the party which Manny belongs to.
"I feel that now, we are both ready for marriage," Daisy said. "After 27 years together, we should be ready!"
