Manila, March 2, 1998 - "Bad Boy" of Philippine movies, Robin Padilla will be out of jail sometime in March but he will not be able to run for any political office.
The National Bilibid Prison (NBP) Director Vicente Vinarao in a press conference last Friday issued a declaration from the Department of Justice (DOJ) saying that in a proviisonal parole the actor is not in any position to run for political office. He can only do so if he is given absolute pardon.
Robin has served the 2 years and 7 months in jail for illegal possession of firearms which rendered him the provisional parole. Justice Secretary Silvestre Bello III ordered the Bureau of Corrections to formulate the possibility of an absolute pardon for the actor.
Robin has continued to support the LAKAS-NUCD party of President Ramos and will particularly work for Senatorial candidate Ramon Revilla, Sr. He said he is not supporting any of the presidential candidates.
