JAPANESE PRINCE, PRINCESS AT CENTENNIAL RITES
Manila, Feb. 18, 1998 - Japanese Prince Akishino and his wife, Princess Kiko, are in the Philippines for a five-day official visit to participate in the celebration of the centennial of Philipine independence.
Welcoming the royal couple, President Ramos said their presence at Centennial rites certainly adds honor and prestige to the event.
The Prince and Princess will be the guests of honor at the opening ceremony of the Philippines-Japan Festival '98 which opens today at the Cultural Center of the Philippines. The festival will end on April 3.
President Ramos said the visit would further strengthen Philippine-Japan relations, particularly on cultural exchange and cooperation.
