LUCENA TERMINAL LAUDED BY TRAVELLERS
Lucena City, Feb. 10, 1998 - A 64-hectare grand central terminal opened here for all types of passenger vehicles, solving the chaotic situation that used to tie up traffic in Southern Luzon.
Mayor Ramon Talaga Jr. said the P100-million complex will lure investors to the region and boost trade and tourism.
The common bus and jeep terminal and chopping center is considered the biggest in Luzon, and right now handles an average of 60,000 travellers daily.
Also using the terminal's facilities are buses, mini-buses and other land transportation for rent that ply the Manila-Lucena lines, the Batangas, Bicol, Eastern Quezon routes and the vehicles traversing the Bondoc Peninsula towns.
Prohibited from the area are 3-wheeled vehicles such as tricycles and pedicabs, and animal-drawn carriages.
The shopping area houses souvenir shops for local and foreign tourists.
