RP HOSTS ASIA-PACIFIC CULTURAL-TRADE MEET
Manila, Feb. 2, 1998 - The Philippines will once again host one of the world's chief cultural events in time for the Philippine Centennial celebrations.
The 16th Conference of the Federation of Asian Cultural Promotion (FACP) will be held at the Cultural Center of the Philippines from Feb 5 to Feb 7. It will be attended by hundreds of arts managers and senior cultural administrators from the Asia-Pacific Region who will tackle trade issues and the vital role of the arts in the region.
The FACP is a non-profit, non-political organization which periodically holds discussions on fundamental issues relation to the arts, such as networking, financing, marketing, new technologies, regional information channels and cultural identity.
The 1998 conference will take on a new dimension with the onset of the economic turmoil affecting the Asia-Pacific region, a development which greatly affects support for and development of arts.
The 3-day summit will be attended by representatives from Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, the United States, Australia, Singapore, Taipei, Hong Kong, Vietnam, the Philippines, and observers from Europe and the Americas.
