GOMBURZA CENTENNIAL RUN, 100-KM RELAY AT LUNETA
Manila, Feb. 13, 1998 - Fitness enthusiasts usher in celebrations for the Philippine Independence Centennial in their own unique way: the Gomburza Centennial Run, a 100-kilometer relay around the Rizal Park which will take the whole day and night from midnight Feb 21 to the evening of Feb. 22.
The relay begins from the Luneta Independence Grandstand and goes around to the front of the Rizal monument, with runners taking turns for 24 hours.
Tents will be set up around the park for spiritual reflection, art and social discussions as well as a host of religious and cultural activities 'round-the-clock to liven up the relay race.
Individuals and groups will fill up registration forms to indicate the distance they want to cover and to commit concrete action on their own individual plans to mark the centennial of Philippine Independence.
