SAN MIGUEL GAINS PBA SOLO LEAD
Quezon City, Feb. 8, 1998 - San Miguel pulled off an easy win over Shell, 76-59, to gain the early solo lead in the McDonald's PBA All-Filipino Cup last night at the Araneta Coliseum. It was San Miguel's second win.
Last Sunday, at the opening game, the Beermen routed Pop Cola with the able performance of new draftee Danny Ildefonso.
Shell Zoom Masters were at a disadvantage last night, playing without ace center Benjie Paras and getting their frontline depleted further when they backup slotman Jolly Escobar was injured in practice.
In the second game, Alaska Milk defeated title-holder Purefoods, 91-82.
