RP HOSTS ASIAN BOWLING CHAMPIONSHIP
Manila, Feb. 7, 1998 - Philippine bowling will get a tremendous boost from Brunswick when the giant international sports firm stages the second Asian Tournament of Champions in a new center in Alabang late this year.
Brunswick International managing director for Asia/Pacific Andrew Shipman noted the big boom in bowling in the Philippines as he announced initial details of the sports event yesterday.
The best bowlers from 26 countries will compete in the tournament, including the Philippines' Lizette Garcia and Mar Serac, who played in the first Asian tourney held last year in Guangzhou, China. That Tournament of Champions was dominated by Australia, with Maxine Nable and Michael Muir sweeping the ladies' and men's titles.
The Second Asian Tournament of Champions will be held in Alabang in September.
