Manila, Feb. 17, 1998 - An exceptionally artistic calendar appeared recently, featuring celebrities in various poses, photographed by the Philippines' best photographers.
One of the models features is actress Giselle Toengi, whose nude photos were a revelation and surprise.
Giselle's photo was artistic, but it did not please the advertising agency that had planned to feature her in a shampoo commercial.
Upon seeing the calendar, the agency informed Giselle that the shampoo ad deal was being cancelled because the company did not want the image of the product affected.
As it turns out, the agency wanted a model with a wholesome image endorsing the product, and the calendar disqualified Giselle.
A magazine editor, Monica Feria, editor-in-chief of the Weekly Mirror, was put on notice by Giselle for publishing the press release of the calendar, using a photo from the calendar.
Ms. Feria's question was: if it was a photo on a calendar, and all she printed was the press release from the calendar's publisher, what is Giselle complaining about? She posed for those photos that were meant to be published and printed, didn't she?
