EDU MANZANO RUNNING FOR MAKATI VICE MAYOR

Makati City, Feb 12, 1998 - Actor Edu Manzano has finally officially announced his political plans: he is running for Vice Mayor of Makati City.

Edu had for months toyed with the idea of running for mayor, but apparently changed his mind when offered to be the running mate of Nelson Irasga, who is running for mayor under the ruling party LAKAS.

Initially, there were reports that Edu was going to be the running mate of Vice Mayor Arturo Yabut, who is running for mayor. But Yabut announced that his vice mayoralty candidate is Makati Councilor Bong Daza, former husband of Miss Universe Gloria Diaz.

Makati City will have three very strong contenders for City Hall: Mrs. Elenita Binay (LAMMP), Irasga (LAKAS) and Yabut (also LAKAS).
